  Brain Injury Rehabilitation Programs

Brain and Head Injury Rehabilitation and Long Term Living in Ottawa, Ontario.

THE LIGHTHOUSE (SIL) << Back
The environment for THE LIGHTHOUSE was created within the philosophy inherent in the acronym “LIGHT”, Living Independently in Grace, Hope and Trust. Consistent with our philosophy of working with a small number of clients, The LightHouse, our supported independent living facility, is comprised of one four-bedroom home, two, two-bedroom townhouses and several community based apartments. Each client's bedroom is single occupancy, with telephone services, cable and high-speed internet access.

Our facility is situated within the community, with easy access to amenities necessary for community integration. It is within walking distance of shopping centres, libraries, museums, banks, as well as our Clinic, The Ottawa Athletic Club and our functional activity centre, “Creative Hands”. Our houses are natural home environments, discreetly adapted to provide our clients with a neurobehavioral approach to recovery. Our objective, within these environments, is to promote independence and success, in the acquisition of life skills. These include: self care; household management; recreation and leisure; vocational/avocational pursuits; and community reintegration. These skills are fostered while living within a community of cooperation and collaboration.
