Trauma Counselling
Trauma counselling addresses both acute and chronic reactions to life events that are, for the most part, outside the scope of everyday experience and which can evoke feelings of helplessness, fear or terror. The individual's perception of their experience is as significant as the event itself. Together with the client, trauma counsellors generates an individualized goal-directed treatment plan that identifies their key issues and facilitates the identification and normalization of the client's trauma reactions. Over time the client develops skills to help them re-integrate the trauma into their lives in a meaningful way and move towards a healthy resolution.
